Another reasonably high concept, although it doesn’t appear that way from all angles. The TARDIS lands inside a supposedly impregnable prison. Most of the people being kept here are psychics, former soldiers now betrayed and imprisoned by their country. In there with them is a classic Big Finish “best on audio” monster called a “brain worm.” The storytelling is disjointed in part 1, making it difficult to tell just what order events go in, but in one thread, the Doctor has amnesia induced by encountering the brain worm. The pace slows down a bit toward the end, when everyone’s trying to figure out where the brain worm is hiding. C’rizz gets the worst of it in this story, suffering significant physical torture, but his violent tendencies stay hidden. There’s a lot of horror going on, as you would expect from a dark prison, and the body count is absurdly high. The secondary characters seem to spend a large amount of time bellowing at each other, then dying. It starts out with an inventive premise, but ultimately doesn’t go anywhere.
