In which we learn that Lucie doesn’t like crocodiles. It’s a somewhat high concept story, centered around a monastery that’s supposed to provide solace and sanctuary, but is currently hiding an ancient secret. That brings in an ancient race of crocodilians, who’ve been fighting a war for thousands of years. Writer Marc Platt jams together a bunch of interesting ideas, as he often does, but the story itself feels somewhat slight. A lot of it hinges on a physical combat between a mind-controlled Lucie and the Doctor, which is hard to pull off properly on audio, and it doesn’t really come across. Again, the Doctor seems to leave with the problem not quite resolved. This is one of the more forgettable stories from this season.
