As Big Finish often does in these trilogies, when one story is silly, the next is dark and scary. The TARDIS crew is split up in this one, which allows them each some solo spotlight time interacting with the minor characters. Specifically, Nyssa gets a romance with Sacha Dhawan (who hadn’t been cast as the Master yet, so this is retroactively creepy), and Adric nearly gets himself hanged. Tegan spends a fair amount of time with the Doctor, which goes about as you’d expect, but you also get to see that the Doctor appreciates Tegan’s determination and perseverance, even while finding her annoying at times. The Fifth Doctor also spends a lot of time with Leanne, played by Fenella Woolgar, who played Agatha Christie in “The Unicorn and the Wasp” on TV, and several other Big Finish roles. It’s not the most memorable spooky Big Finish story, but it’s pretty good.
