Although I listened to this story near the beginning of this project, these Adric stories were among the more recent that Big Finish had released at the time of writing, with this second trilogy in 2018. This first entry is silly to the point of being a farce, with a Duke and Duchess vying for control of their shared kingdom, splitting everything down the middle. The Fifth Doctor and Nyssa end up on one side, Adric and Tegan on the other, which allows for some novel character interaction (although the Doctor and Nyssa will get plenty of that shortly in this chronology). The resolution is clever, but manages to be almost equally silly. How much you like this one depends on your tolerance for the silliness, but I enjoyed it. Random note: This is the first release to feature two covers, one with the traditional Big Finish logo (the silver version of the one from the TV movie), and the other with an “era appropriate” logo, in this case the early 80s “neon” logo. This sets the stage for later in 2018, when all releases would have the Jodie Whitaker logo, with an alternate cover with the “era appropriate” logo.
