This is an early Companion Chronicle, the first one Sarah Sutton had done, so it follows the pattern of a later-in-life Nyssa telling someone else a story of something that happened when she was with the Doctor. The frame story makes some odd changes to “Terminus” and what Nyssa did after. The flashback story features the Dar Traders, who’ve appeared in one Main Range story, and are interesting enough that I’m surprised they haven’t appeared more. The Doctor spends most of the story off-camera, which relieves Sarah of having to portray him, but she does a pretty good job of capturing the tone of both the Doctor and Adric, and especially Tegan, where she incorporates just a hint of Australian accent. The story itself is a bit hard to follow, and gives a sense that there’s a lot more going on outside the story, but we don’t get to see that.
