The backdrop of this story is distinctly bizarre, with space-time crows and sailors adrift in the vortex. It’s all very high-concept. The character work, though, with Brewster having impersonated the Doctor and getting gradually caught out, reveals a character out of his depth, and both doing the best he can while utterly failing to do the right thing. The setting definitely makes a lasting impression.
