Thin Time

Main Range #267
Released: 12 August 2020
Listened: 8/16/20
The Main Range entry for this month is divided into a pair of two-parters. It’s a bit odd that a significant story would be told this way, but that’s how it is. At first, this story seems to be a continuation of the short stories from “Time Apart.” The Doctor ends up at an English manor house on Halloween 1890. The house is occupied by a writer, his visiting friend, a butler, and a cook, but something is quite wrong. There’s a bit of Lovecraft feel as Things from Outside are trying to get into our dimension where time is thin. The mystery involves the Doctor figuring out who started it, why, and where they currently are, which plays out to a satisfactory conclusion. What happens after that is a major spoiler, so I won’t go into it. However, the Doctor has a good think about the price paid by his companions, and whether he’s responsible for them, or if they choose to associate with him despite the risks. His conclusion leads to the end of the second story.
