The two stories in this release are directly linked, but their tone is sharply divergent. The first part has Team TARDIS dropping involuntarily into the middle of an amped-up “Tough Mudder” race, with a certain amount of silliness, at least in the first part. Because I often listen to Big Finish while running, including the first time I heard this story, I was particularly amused. Tegan admits that her normal shoes aren’t appropriate for running, and Nyssa seems to want nothing to do with physical exercise, which seems odd, given that she’s in good shape, but maybe Trakenites maintain their figures in other ways. Marc comes off best, as he’s physically suited for the task and enjoys it...until he gets hurt, after which things get very dark, very quickly.
