This story is one of the more interesting long-term twists Big Finish pulled. In order to get Nyssa, Tegan, and Turlough all together without Turlough being evil, the story has to be set after “Enlightenment,” which means they need to bring Nyssa back at a point in her life after she left, 50 years in this case. At least they deal with it up front, and give Nyssa other concerns in her life, although she keeps some of them secret for now. The rest of the story is serviceable, with some confusing timey-wimey that’s worthy of the TV series. The trick to get out of the big cliffhanger seems contrived. Ironically, behind the scenes this is the first story that Janet Fielding did in her return to playing Tegan on a regular basis, so the extras are more about that than Nyssa, who has been appearing in Big Finish pretty much since the beginning.
