Another trilogy with Nyssa, Tegan, and Turlough, but this one is the last, as they wanted to do some with Adric next (which appeared earlier in this project). After the crushing ending of “Prisoners of Fate,” there needs to be some reason why Nyssa didn’t go home, and falling into E-Space is a pretty good excuse, although one wonders why it was necessary (and yet another case of a Fifth Doctor story linking back to a Fourth Doctor one). It feels very odd for the TARDIS crew to go back to Alzarius, but without Adric, although at least Andrew Smith is writing, and he’s the authority. It also features Jemma Redgrave, who has a rather distinctive voice, after she started playing Kate Stewart on TV, but a bit before the Big Finish modern UNIT series started up. As usual for Andrew Smith, there’s a theme of the humans being the bad guys, and a strong pro-ecology bent. The link that connects to the next story is somewhat contrived.
