This is an odd story, consisting of three parts with a bonus story, and each of the individual episodes is on the short side. That said, the whole story feels half-baked. The Doctor is unusually quick to condemn a robot-based society, before he even knows what’s going on. He’s also very quick to jump to the sacrifice play. A high number of minor characters die, as well. On the flip side, Peri is still being more clever than normal, and using her botany skills. This is also the first Big Finish with “behind the scenes” extras, which are quite strange and drawn-out.
