Placing this here because Peri specifically states that she hasn’t been with the Doctor long, but she matures some throughout the story. She’s accidentally separated from the Doctor, and stranded on a failing Earth colony with only a few settlers, and a base-under-siege situation going on. Amazingly, they’re not hostile to her, and with her botany skills, she starts to integrate. Of course, there’s the whole “under siege” part to deal with, and this story has an unusually high body count for a Short Trip. Rod Brown’s writing is maybe a bit too descriptive, less narrative than most Short Trips, and although Nicola Bryant tries to infuse it with emotion, it often comes across a bit hurried and breathless.
