This one actually is a true historical, set in 1626, but it manages to be a dull one, because none of the historical characters are likeable. It also drags in the “companion is an exact double for an important character” trope, which you’d think wouldn’t get used as much on audio, but there it is. Peri’s got a good bit of agency, and Erimem is doing quite well for her first trip, but she’s dealing with monarchy and palace intrigue, which is somewhat familiar ground for her.
