This is the first part of the “Master trilogy” from 2016, which features the Jeffrey Beavers and Alex McQueen Masters, and probably best listened to with its siblings, but in chronological order, it falls here. Although the Doctor is traveling with Tegan and Turlough in this story, they don’t appear. The story is mostly focused on the Master, whose characterization seems a bit off in this story -- he’s more cruel, and very angry. It’ll be explained in the third part of the trilogy, but not here. There’s some good bait-and-switch plotting, as several characters are not what they appear to be at first. The resolution of the plot is a bit of a let-down, though.
