This one is another early story, recorded before the new series premiered, so still free of any of its influence. As a result, the story is darker; the Doctor is a little more harsh, and less friendly to Turlough, which is a bit out of character for the Fifth Doctor. There’s a bit of Time’s Champion here too, where the Doctor knows how history should proceed and won’t brook any interference. Oddly, the plot itself has some echoes of “Utopia” from new Season 3, but I don’t think there was any direct influence. This is the final chronological appearance of Turlough on audio, as they head from here to “Planet of Fire,” since Turlough wants to go somewhere warm after Moscow.
