This one is an odd duck. It’s one of three stories that wants to be set immediately before “The Tenth Planet,” which doesn’t quite work. It also has a framework like a Companion Chronicle, with Polly feeling reflective much later in her life. As for the story itself, the narration seems rather overwritten, with excessive vocabulary that makes it hard to concentrate on the story. Not that there’s a lot of story, really. The TARDIS crew encounters what appears to be an angel, which lectures them on the importance of letting go. The whole story has a rather dream-like quality, which ultimately renders it somewhat forgettable.
