This one is somewhat unusual, as it’s not a very serious story, but rather focuses on the state of British comedy in the 1950s, which Steven unwittingly gets involved in. The bad guys are the Vardans, which seems odd in this chronology, because they appeared not long ago, but Steven doesn’t reference Oliver at all. A lot of the humor stems from Steven being bewildered by 1950s British culture, although I wonder how many in the target audience can remember it.
