This is the middle story of the trilogy, both in the frame story and in the flashback. Which you’d think would make things easier, but the frame story seems to be the real story the author is trying to tell. The flashback, regarding some miners trapped by semi-sentient water, is dramatic, but brief, almost inconsequential. It’s the frame story with Sara and the visitor Robert that seems to be important, and in this case, it’s slightly let down by there being only two actors, and in this case, by my knowing already how that part of the story ends. It’s not as surreal as the previous story, but doesn’t carry a lot more impact.
