This story, though, is all about Leela. It’s one of those where a main character wakes up in a different life, and everyone keeps telling them the old life is a dream. Which is pretty standard stuff, but Louise Jameson plays it brilliantly as always, to the point where you can hear her starting to unravel and doubt herself. A big part of that is because Damian Lynch is back as Marshall, but a human version, not a Rocket Man this time. This is much more effective listening to those stories close together, rather than years apart as I originally heard them, having totally forgotten who Marshall was. Dan Starkey also has a small role as Linus Strang, a milder human version of his Sontaran Strang from “The King of Sontar,” and he’s subtle enough that I missed it completely. I was expecting a slightly ambiguous ending or a twist or double-bluff, none of which happen, but the emotional impact is probably stronger because of it.
