The first part of this subsection is mostly a lot of short trips, but that’s OK, because Louise Jameson often reads them. Her Tom Baker voice isn’t an impersonation, but usually gets the effect right. In this story, Leela is clearly very new in her travels, still getting used to a lot of things. The Doctor takes her to Geneva, where they meet the Brigadier, who’s in the process of retiring from UNIT. Of course, something weird is going on, in this case, people encountering the ghosts of their ancestors, after which they forget ever having known them. Solving the problem isn’t particularly dramatic, but that’s not the point. The idea is to get Leela and the Brig talking, and each coming to terms with the heritage that caused them to become warriors. The Brig and Leela are definitely kindred spirits here, and it’s great to have a story that puts them together.
