This story continues the trilogy from “The Catalyst” and “Empathy Games,” supposedly putting a final end to Leela’s story…which is now completely unnecessary, because of all the other appearances she’s made. Frankly, this is a very strange one, full of time loops and paradoxes and reincarnation and other strangeness. The secondary actor in this is John Leeson, playing K-9 as well as other characters. It covers Leela’s rescue from the Z’nai torture machine where she’s been for…a long time? However, that kicks off a loop of paradox that’s…well, it’s really hard to follow, especially with just one listen. Honestly, I found it hard to focus on. I can see what Nigel Fairs is going for, as he’s done similar work on other Companion Chronicles, but this one just didn’t work for me. And unfortunately, that’s the end of Leela’s part of this project. However, both she and Louise Jameson will be back, in plenty of other stories.
