If you thought the guest stars in part 1 were fun, I didn’t mention Toby Hadoke as Cuthbert’s right-hand-man, Jane Slavin in her first-ever Big Finish role, and Haley Atwell as the President of Earth (not a bad promotion, Agent Carter!). Unfortunately, as far as the plot goes, I’m a bit unimpressed. Although Haley Atwell is always awesome, her “unexpected presidential candidate” is just a little too naive and trusting to be believable as the president of a planet, new to the job or not. And no matter what the Doctor says, if you’ve got a species that’s about to wipe out all life on Earth because they made a mistake and got lost, well, there’s a point where you stop talking and take the tough action to save all your constituents. But this is a Nick Briggs story, so it all comes out well in the end. I wish Romana had a more active part, although she has some moments of brilliance. And Cuthbert is interesting enough that he’ll be back again later.
