We’ve reached the end of the season, so it must be time for a two-parter. The stakes don’t initially seem very high, as the TARDIS lands on a fairly primitive planet. There’s a nature-documentarian here, along with his assistant and pilot, but they’ve crashed and need help. Mark Platt throws in a twist, though: the planet’s surface is one big, sluggish ocean. You can walk on it, but if you stop, you’ll sink. And that’s just the start of things. Romana’s old friend from the Academy is here as well, but strangely reluctant to say what’s going on. And there’s more going on with the natives than meets the eye too, but we get only the vaguest of clues. It seems like one kind of story, yet the fact that it doesn’t end after two parts indicates it’s an entirely different kind.
