The Fourth Doctor, Romana, and Adric

For many years, Matthew Waterhouse didn’t want to work with Big Finish, mostly because he didn’t think he could reproduce the voice of his younger self. However, after doing some Dark Shadows stories for them, he came around. At first, he did exclusively stories with the Fifth Doctor’s TARDIS crew, but eventually he did a handful of Fourth Doctor stories as well. This period on TV was kind of tumultuous, and took its toll on Tom Baker. As a result, his Doctor appears a bit darker and more reserved in this era.
