The Second Doctor, Ben, Polly, and Jamie

In this section, Jamie joins the team, and the Second Doctor starts to act more like himself. Most of the TV stories are linked, so they take place early in this phase, with the new stories being inserted before “The Faceless Ones.” With three companions for the first time in years, and a more active Doctor, the TARDIS seems a bit crowded. The major characterization issue was ensuring that Ben wasn’t overshadowed by Jamie, so the Big Finish writers made sure to balance the scales and give Ben his share of spotlight.
