This story is from the boxed set where River was jumping into various classic episodes, this time a prequel to “The Web of Fear.” In fairness, this story doesn’t belong in this project, because River doesn’t encounter the Doctor or his companions, but I don’t like to pass up a John Dorney story. She does meet Captain Knight, a member of Lethbridge-Stewart’s command who’s killed by a Yeti in the later story. There’s continuity references galore, although this seems to be before “The Name of the Doctor” from River’s perspective, as she doesn’t mention having met the Intelligence before. It’s also somewhat talky, as Knight forces River to confront her amoral attitude toward historical events she participates in. It’s probably not the best of this boxed set, but it’s definitely worth a listen.
