This is a Short Trip, and a rather absurd one at that. The TARDIS has landed on Venus, in the city of Drex, and the Doctor decides it’s time to learn some form of self-defense, so he tries to make a deal so he can learn Venusian aikido. The Venusians, at this point in time, are an array of genetic variations, but at least some are green with five arms and five legs. However, aikido isn’t what the story is about. Once again, the crew has lost the TARDIS, and has to compete in the Drexian games to get it back, which should go disastrously, but there’s a third party with an interest in them winning. Frazer Hines reads this story, so you get his excellent version of the Second Doctor as well as Jamie. Victoria once again pleads her fragility to try to get out of participating, but it goes better than she thinks. There are references to shanghorn, but no perigosto sticks or lullabies, unfortunately. It’s lightweight and fun, what you’d expect from a short trip.
