This Companion Chronicle is narrated by Wendy Padbury, which means it’s focused on Zoe. This is the first part of the frame story that leads into “The Memory Cheats,” with a mysterious Company, represented by an analyst named Jen, who wants to take advantage of Zoe’s perfect memory to recover things from her adventures that might be used to military advantage. In this case, it’s a hospital that’s curing the incurable, but at a cost. Because this is one of Zoe’s stories, she and the Doctor end up doing a lot of sciency stuff, which leaves Jamie mostly out in the cold. It makes for a sort-of base under siege story, where the siege is coming from within. There’s a higher than usual body count, depending on how you count it, but the monsters don’t really seem all that threatening. It’s a middle-of-the-road story at best.
