This is the final part of the story that’s been cooking through the frame stories of the Zoe-narrated Companion Chronicles. This time, Jen from “Echoes of Grey” is back again, as is Kim from “The Memory Cheats,” but only in a non-speaking part. It’s written by John Dorney, rather than Simon Guerrier, and unusually for Companion Chronicles, it has one of Dorney’s timey-wimey plots, so only the first half plays out like a Companion Chronicle, and it would be criminal to say more than that. Zoe once again has the focus, both past and present, doing a bunch of computery stuff. This was the last Companion Chronicle before the series switched over to boxed sets, and also before the Early Adventures were introduced. Oddly, it has no extras, which is a shame. However, it does wrap up Zoe’s story very neatly, which is quite well done.
