Short Trips #7.8

The TARDIS arrives in London, 1951, during the Festival of Britain. The Doctor is thrilled to visit the festival; his companions less so, because each is dealing with feelings of loneliness and isolation. This is one of the longer Short Trips, long enough to have an actual plot with a twist in it, which I won’t spoil. It’s read by Wendy Padbury, who doesn’t quite have the ability as a mimic that Frazer Hines has, which makes this one sound more like a narrated story than a performance, and oddly, Jamie sounds more stereotypically Scottish than usual. It’s a decent story that evokes a bit of history effectively.
