The Haunting of Bryck Place

Interludes #3
Released: 29 June 2022
Listened: 8/19/22
This is another Interlude, an hour-long story told in narrated form, read this time by Sophie Aldred. Which means we get her exaggerated impersonation of the Doctor, but also very Ace-sounding Ace, down to the internal monologue. They’re in Tudor London, investigating a haunted house, which is odd, because Bryck Place is new, the first house made from bricks. And it’s odd because the ghost is apparently Ace. The tone is very Season 26, with Ace still seeking the Doctor’s approval, but also prone to flying off the handle. She remembers both Fenric and Gabriel Chase as recent adventures that have rattled her faith in the Doctor. More important, because of the narration, we get some inkling of how Ace sees herself, and it’s a pretty dark picture. In the face of that, the story is somewhat secondary, but it’s not predictable either, which is good.
