The Seventh Doctor, Ace, and Benny

Professor Bernice “Benny” Summerfield is one of the more significant characters from 90s Doctor Who. Created by writer Paul Cornell, she appeared in several of the New Adventures novels, and was the first character adapted by Big Finish, even before they had the Doctor Who rights. The Benny audios and novels attempt to follow a single continuity, and I’m not going to get into those in this project, but that led to a couple of Big Finish novel adaptations, which also try to tie into the novel continuity. Although Benny isn’t really to my taste, I recognize her significance in the larger story, and her role both as a friend of the Doctor’s, and as a precursor to River Song.
