This story follows immediately from the previous, but Hex still pretty clearly has feelings for Ace, so maybe the pair of stories belong earlier, or maybe Hex is just unresolved in his own mind. Either way, the crew end up on a “Brigadoon” style planet that only exists in our universe every thousand years or so. Of course, Ace and Hex get separated from the Doctor while the planet does its vanishing act, and have to survive long enough for him to find them again. There are no other characters in the story, so you’re mostly listening to Sophie Aldred and Philip Olivier acting cold, miserable, and increasingly frustrated, which is probably a good acting exercise for them, but it doesn’t make the most compelling story. However, it’s a good fit for a story of this length, unlike “Shadow Planet.” The story ends with Hex being very angry at the Doctor, which hasn’t been followed up on.
