The Sixth Doctor

The Sixth Doctor had a tempestuous tenure on television, alienating quite a lot of fans (myself included) and BBC executives. He also had a very short tenure, and a temporally confusing companion in Mel, whom he met out of order. That leaves a lot of gaps for Big Finish to slot in new stories, new companions, and character growth. For the most part, the Sixth Doctor has just one companion at a time, which makes a contrast to the First and Fifth Doctor eras that I’ve listened to so far in this project. “Old Sixie” probably has the greatest expansion to his personality of any of the TV characters, and most listeners would agree it’s a vast improvement. There are also quite a few new characters created especially for Big Finish, and at the time of this writing, some of their stories haven’t concluded.
