This is almost told in a Companion Chronicles style, with a frame story surrounding a flashback. The frame story takes place, for Charley, in the long gap before “Blue Forgotten Planet,” but the flashback takes place hereabouts. It’s a story uniquely fitting for Charley, as she and the Doctor come across a standard temporal anomaly, which turns out to be a woman interfering with her own past to relieve heartbreak. The Doctor doesn’t see it at first, and he’s very disapproving once he figures it out, but Charley understands, and is sympathetic, because she’s doing the same thing. It’s a tiny story, but because it’s from Charley’s point of view, it makes her more understandable than any other story in this segment.
