This is the second Big Finish story with the Rani. It’s a sequel to previous Rani stories, taking place after “The Rani Elite,” which was a while ago in the Rani’s timeline, and possibly quite a while in the Doctor’s, but rather recently in this project and in release order. The Rani wants to return to Miasimia Goria, mentioned back in “The Mark of the Rani” on TV as a planet where she’d experimented on the populace and deprived them of the ability to sleep. Thanks to the Doctor’s interference, she arrives 16 years after she left, meaning her rule has been usurped by one of her own experiments. From there, it sort of wanders around a bit. Like other Rani stories, she ends up defeated by her own creations, but I’m afraid the getting there really isn’t terribly interesting. Constance isn’t used quite as well as she was in the previous story. She’s determined, and adapts well to being on her own, but she reacts more than she acts. It’s an acceptable episode, but that’s all.
