This story has rather the same frenetic pace as the first of the trilogy, but there’s a lot less going on in the plot. Brewster has been returned to roughly when he came from, but not where, as he now has a factory job. However, there’s two separate groups of aliens running around, which leads to “trouble at the mill.” It seems like there should be a bit of class struggle going on, but what little appears is quickly forgotten. The alien threats are somewhat fuzzy as threats. One has a clear goal, but isn’t very effective, and the other is effective, but we don’t know who or what they are. Evelyn gets a fair amount of sarcasm, if not quite as much as last time. For his part, the Doctor seems harsher than he has been in a while; it’s possible Brewster brings out the worst in him. The voice acting is clear and creates multiple distinctive characters, but they don’t have as much to do as I’d like. Ultimately, it leaves Brewster in a place where he could possibly continue, although he hasn’t been seen since. This is the last story Maggie Stables recorded as Evelyn before her death, which is a bit of a shame because the story doesn’t focus on her, but rather on Brewster. Still, it’s not the end of her story.
