The Holy Terror

Main Range #14
Released: 20 November 2000

This is Frobisher’s only appearance in the Main Range, and it appears to be seriously goofy at first. There’s a castle with a god-king, but upon his death he’s immediately declared blasphemy, and his son becomes the god-king. There’s a scheming half-brother, an evil queen, and a treacherous high priest, pretty much all conforming to the stereotypes you would expect. Except that the Doctor and Frobisher disrupt the expectations, and for a while Frobisher becomes god-king. Then it takes a turn for the seriously dark and even mythical, where it turns out that nothing is what it seems. The two halves of the story clash tonally, which was the intention, but Frobisher really isn’t a good fit for the second part. Fortunately, all anybody remembers about this story is the silly bit. All hail the big talking bird!
