Now that the Doctor realizes that he and Jamie are in the Land of Fiction, references to “The Mind Robber” abound. This is one of those stories where you don’t have to have seen the classic episode, but it sure helps. That also means that Zoe shows up, with her full memories, claiming that it’s only been a month for her since she left them. She uses a bit of magic-tech to restore Jamie’s memories as well, so they’re all functioning on full trust as a team. When you’ve got a premise like this one, the writer can toss in any fictional character they like, and Mike Maddox certainly does. It doesn’t seem like the Cybermen would be a good fit for a Land of Fiction story, but that’s Doctor Who for you -- the Cybermen just accept it all at face value and get on with the converting. The latter half of the story focuses on Jamie and Zoe, and what their time with the Doctor meant to them, and how Zoe got into this situation in the first place. It’s a bit of an info-dump, and the ending really isn’t that strong, but this one really isn’t as much about the story resolving tightly.
