This is one of the only instances where a Companion Chronicle links directly to a Main Range story. After the event of “City of Spires,” Jamie and the Doctor need to go retrieve the TARDIS from the castle where they left it, but of course it’s not that easy. There’s another mythical creature disguised as a priest who’s holding the castle. Fortunately, Jamie and the Doctor take care of him fairly easily. Jamie gets to be the hero on his own, although the Doctor gets the big resolution. As a Companion Chronicle, this one is narrated by Jamie, and his vocabulary is a bit more advanced than we’ve seen in the past, but maybe he’s done some reading as he got older. It’s not a strictly necessary story, but it is a good opportunity to hear more of Jamie.
