After the last adventure, the Doctor doesn’t seem to be too worried about the temporal confusion in Scotland; he just wants to take his old friend on a fun trip, and thinks that the Queen Mary would be a nice stop...except it’s not the Queen Mary, it’s the Titanic, except it’s not the Titanic, it’s...confusing. And then the Nautilus figures in. There’s lots of running, climbing, and escaping from peril in each of the four parts, but it does seem somewhat episodic. The background mystery is to figure out why the situations where they find themselves are so odd, and that doesn’t resolve itself until the very end, which ends up being a reference to a famous Second Doctor episode. This story doesn’t resolve so much as it just stops, and waits for the next part.
