The Sixth Doctor and Peri

The Sixth Doctor and Peri

The Sixth Doctor starts off his era with Peri already accompanying him, in the frankly disastrous “Twin Dilemma.” I have a very poor opinion of this first season, and I’m not alone. Fortunately, Big Finish seems to avoid setting stories there, probably because the Doctor and Peri spend most of their time bickering, and that’s not much fun to listen to. The good news is that their relationship seemed to improve sometime between “Revelation of the Daleks” and the Trial, so Big Finish sets a bunch of stories there, where they’re easier in each other’s company. Unfortunately, this era also includes the first set of “Lost Stories,” specifically, stories that were planned for Season 23 in 1986, but which were canceled and replaced with the Trial. The other Lost Stories come in singles or small groups, but this is an entire season’s worth of stories, ones where the Doctor and Peri don’t really get along too well. So this part of the Sixth Doctor’s era is rather lengthy, and has a big chunk of stories I don’t particularly like right in the middle.
