This release is an anthology of short stories, which Big Finish seems to like using the Sixth Doctor for. In this installment, the Doctor and Peri meet an imprisoned former empress who led a rebellion against her brother and was later deposed herself. She has an escape plan, but the Doctor delays her with technical wizardry, and Peri, somehow, talks her out of it, on the grounds that she doesn’t want to start another war (even though she’d already started one before). Jemma Churchill is pleasantly urbane as the empress, but the logic of the story doesn’t hold up for me.
