The TARDIS lands in medieval England, only to quickly reveal that it’s not, in fact, medieval England, but a facsimile. A facsimile on a spaceship in the future, as it happens, but that doesn’t become obvious until Part 2. It's a generation ship that malfunctioned a long time ago, leading to one of those backwards dystopias run by a deranged computer, but this time, there’s a third party trying to kill everybody and sell the ship for scrap. The plot unfolds slowly over the course of the story, and mostly holds together (except for the villagers never noticing that when the children come of age, they get replaced with younger versions; kind of a plot hole there). The Doctor is abrasive, and unusually in favor of fighting, even dying, for a cause, but not taken to extremes. Peri is somewhat shrill, which is normal for this season, but does get a certain amount of agency. It’s probably the best Lost Story thus far, in terms of story.
