Lost Stories #3.5
Released: June 2012

This particular Lost Story has several interesting elements, among them the return of Victoria Waterfield. Deborah Watling only participated in a few Big Finish stories, as her age and smoking habit left her unable to reproduce Victoria’s voice as she had been with the Second Doctor. However, this story takes place in the early 21st Century, so Deborah is able to use her own voice (Victoria stayed in 1968 after “The Fury from the Deep”). It does seem a bit odd that the Doctor would run into Victoria not long after he met Jamie; maybe that’s part of why this story was never produced. The other things it’s got going on are nuclear protests, which Victoria is involved in, an alien plot, and another group of aliens entirely trying to chase the Doctor down to arrest him for various crimes. Victoria was never the most capable companion back in the 60s, and in the first part of the story doesn’t make a very good showing of herself. However, she gets into gear later, even putting the Doctor in his place. Compared to some of the other Lost Stories plots, this one holds together reasonably well, even if there are a few unnecessary deaths toward the end.
