This is an “amnesia story,” very similar to Star Trek: The Next Generation’s “Conundrum,” with characters trying to figure out who they are and what they’re doing, including the Doctor and Peri. Although the viewer gets some clues to figure out what’s up, the final twist is entirely different and you won’t spot it coming. That kind of damages the plot, but it’s got a good emotional core, so I can forgive it.
