Lost Stories #3.4

After the success of the first season of Lost Stories, Big Finish managed to round up some more that had never been made, including this story from Johnny Byrne, a sequel to his “Keeper of Traken.” Of course, most of the Traken Union was destroyed in “Logopolis,” but the planet Serenity survived, and managed to mostly keep up Trakenite culture, except they’re governed by a computer instead of a Keeper. But there’s still a tangible air of goodness, which causes evil things to become Melkur statues. Except they’ve got a class system, and when rebels try to overthrow the aristocracy, they unleash an Ultimate Evil. Like, seriously ultimate. The story talks about Good and Evil as if they’re energy fields that can be tapped or directed, which seems a bit silly. The first part of the story with the rebellion is at least a bit interesting, with palace intrigue. But after the plan implodes, it’s just “destroy everything, blah, blah!” which isn’t very compelling. In the end, this story is disappointingly boring. Apparently there’s not much purpose in returning to Traken.
