As you might guess from the title, this one’s about space whales. It’s a not-even-thinly-veiled allegory -- the space whales and space whalers are pretty much what you’d expect, and the Doctor plays the role of an ecological activist. The villains only care about money, of course. There’s a mystical shaman too, but rather than being presented as the obvious good guy, he also turns out to be opportunistic. On the whole, it’s just OK, nothing particularly special. The extras reveal that this story has been hanging around in one form or another since the Tom Baker era, so that tracks.
