This is a special release that takes place shortly after the trial, when the Doctor is still missing Peri. He seems to land on a primitive planet, where Peri crashed several months ago, 20 years older than the last time the Doctor saw her. The TARDIS is damaged, and leaking time energy that’s wreaking havoc on the local population. Except none of it is real; it’s just an illusion from someone who wants the Doctor dead, and someone else who wants to steal the TARDIS. That’s not a spoiler; it’s revealed before the Doctor even turns up. Nicola Bryant gets to play Peri at closer to her own age, and it shows. There should be a lot of emotion in the Doctor seeing Peri again after the trial, and there’s some, but it’s undercut by the fact that it’s all fake. The identity of whoever wants the Doctor dead is never revealed, either. On the whole, it makes the story seem rather unimportant.
