This story isn’t a part of any trilogy, just a standalone solo adventure for the Sixth Doctor. This one is set in Iceland, and while it isn’t a “Scandi-noir,” at least, not as much as River Song’s “Colony of Strangers,” it does have a strong police presence. As is customary, the Doctor gets a temporary companion in police Inspector Yrsa Kristjansdottir, whose father, also a police officer, was murdered under mysterious circumstances some years ago, and the same thing seems to be happening again. The main plot involves aliens using Earth for hunting, but they only seem to hunt things that aren’t much of a challenge, which sort of undercuts that plot. Their hunting wolves don’t seem to be particularly loyal or interested either. The Doctor seems very casual about the goings-on, and is unusually boastful even for him. Yrsa is the main attraction of this story, and it’s left fuzzy whether she leaves with the Doctor or not.
